As we rejoin our intrepid Heroes, they are returning to camp having given Cirie the boot. Colby says JT is a hero for voting against his alliance. JT quickly does damage control, saying he did it for the team, not for himself (I want to believe him. Really I do...I LOVE JT). But Rupert is PO'd and when JT makes puppy eyes at Amanda and asks her to trust him, she tells us she doesn't believe him.
Meanwhile, at Camp Darkside, Coach is leading the villains in Dragonslayer Qi (his choice of words, not mine). Generally the villains seem to be buying into the physical part of the routine, but when Coach starts chanting some Tibetan rap thing there are a lot of snickers and eyes being rolled back into heads. For his part, Russell isn't impressed at all. Our EGG is going to spend his time looking for the idol (and really people, isn't that what this game is about?)Of course Russell being Russell he uproots trees for three hours and does manage to find the idol. "Here it goes again", says EGG.
For the reward challenge three members of each tribe battle in the mud to retrieve balls. They then toss the the balls to three tribemates on a platform who try to throw the ball across the compound and into a basket. James goes down early in the competition and medics are called in to look at his left knee. They pull him out of the challenge, though, for the moment, leave him in the game. So the Heroes must finish the challenge without the mighty James. Amanda gets the first basket for the Heroes and things are looking rosy for the good guys. JT and Coach get down and nasty and JT tosses Coach on the ground in a most un-zen manner. Jerri takes a hard hit from Rupert, then goes on to score the winning basket for the Villains. So the Villains head off on their reward...a chocolate feast at a resort-y kind of place. As they choke back all manner of chocolate their experience ranges from chocolate euphoria to chocolate nausea (and that's just Jerri). Of course chocolate-addled minds eventually turn to strategy. Rob, Coach, Jerri and a couple of other villains find some alone time and decide that Russell must have the idol (having noticed the new mole-hills all through the jungle). Rob says they must vote for Russell to flush it out. Of course our EGG has other plans. He tells Pavarti he has the idol and tells her they must get Coach on-side in order to get rid of Rob. When Russell tells Coach he has the idol, Coach actually kneels before him, saying he is honoured that Russell has put his trust in him. Russell "beknights" the kneeling Coach and tells us privately that now it is the King and the Dragonslayer (more like the king and the Royal fool).
Back on the battlefield, the Heroes have been sent back to camp, while the Medics take another look at James' knee. This is James' second injury in Survivor. Sorry Selina but I think the guy has been using steroids to get that dream bod. In any case, the folks back at camp are beginning to doubt he will be back. Amanda begins to cry, saying she is like James' little sister. Round about then Tom spots James limping across the beach toward camp. Amanda runs to meet him and throws her arms around her "big brother" (yeah right and Brad Pitt is my foster mother). James has his leg in a splint and is moving pretty slowly. Candace comments that James is now dead weight, suggesting he should be the next to go.
For the Immunity Challenge, all members of each tribe with the exception of one, are blindfolded. The unblindfolded person must verbally guide his team mates to locate 10 huge and heavy puzzle pieces scattered in a field. James, due to his infirmity, is the guide for the Heroes, an unfamiliar role for him. Jerri is the caller for the Villains. Both callers do an admirable job and, once again, the Heroes take an early lead. However, as in past challenges, we see their lead evaporate once it comes to putting the puzzle together. Rob guides the last piece into place and jumps on it to drive it home. Once again, our Heroes are going to have to go to Tribal Council to send someone home. Colby, Tom and Candace think that James is the obvious choice. Rupert and Amanda are adamant that it must be Tom. Candace feels that Tom is a risky choice and JT agrees. Well, actually, JT agrees with everyone, a fact that is being noticed in the camp. He agrees with Rupert that Tom should go, and he agrees with Colby that James should go. He can't cross us again, say Rupert.
So, once again, the Heroes head off to Tribal Council with JT as the unknown swing vote. But this time JT sides with the Rupert/Amanda camp. When Dimples tallies the votes Tom is heading back home for dinner with the missus. With Tom goes Selina from our pool, though I know Selina will still be watching, lustfully until James heads home. Somewhat surprisingly (at least to your humble scribe) no one picked Tom to win the million.
Until next week,
